Getting loans in UAE is as easy as A-B-C. But paying it monthly is as difficult as hiding from police authorities!
But did you know that if debt collectors start to verbally harass you due to your unpaid loans, you have the right to counterattack them?
Under UAE law, residents and citizens are protected from being harassed over debts.
The victim of harassment, whether due to unpaid loans or any other reason, is protected by Article 374 of the UAE Penal Code, according to the director at the corporate-commercial department of Gulf Law Atty. Barney Almazar.
He told The City Vibes that the penalty for this offence is a jail time for a period of not exceeding six months or a fine not exceeding Dh5,000 if libel or slander occurs over the telephone or in personal.
